In the late 19th century, Vienna is a city where the beauty and creativity of the arts coexist with the threatening shadows of political tension. Romantic melody begins to turn into something more complex. Past and present meet naturally in Berg's Sieben frühe Lieder and in Mahler's Symphony No. 4, proposed by Antonello Manacorda.
