Castillo y murallas de Andilla
Remains of the castle and walls above La Pobleta, with the Santa Inés chapel beside them. Open-air visit.
Andilla castle and walls stand above La Pobleta, the second core of Andilla. They are the remains of the fortification that closed the settlement, with the small Santa Inés chapel by the walls.
History
The fortress watched the Serranía pass and completed the defence of the village along with the walled gate kept in the old quarter. Today it is ruined, with stretches of wall and enclosure remains on the height.
What to see
The wall remains, the Santa Inés chapel and the views over La Pobleta and the hills. Below, in Andilla, waits the Asunción church, from the 15th century, with the Ribalta paintings.
Tips for your visit
- Walk up from La Pobleta in comfortable shoes.
- It is an open-air site with no services.
- Avoid the hottest hours: there is no shade.
