Castillo de Denia y Museo Arqueológico
Islamic-era fortress above the port with the town archaeology museum inside, and ramparts with views over the town and the Montgó.
On the hill above the port of Denia, the castle is an Islamic-era fortress reworked in later centuries. Inside, the Archaeology Museum covers Iberian, Roman Dianium and Islamic finds, while the ramparts and towers look over the town, the port and the Montgó.
History
The fortress guarded the port town from the Islamic period and kept its military role through later centuries, which explains the mix of walls and towers along the ridge.
