What to see in Alpuente
Alpuente, about 71 km from València, is a walled town in La Serranía with about 700 residents. The village grows on the rock below the castle and keeps gates, the Alhama tower and the 16th-century town hall, with its loggia.
The Muslim-origin castle and walls form one set with the walled town. Outside the old quarter, the 16th-century Los Arcos aqueduct crosses the ravine, and the MUPAL museum explains the dinosaurs of Corcolilla and La Losilla. The municipality adds 33 rock-art shelters and the Poyo fort, the Poyo castle.
The day splits castle and walls in the morning, aqueduct viewpoint and town after lunch, and the MUPAL in morning hours from the tourist office. The municipality adds rock art and the Poyo fort for a second visit.
