Onil, in the Hoya de Castalla about 97 km from Valencia, is the doll-making town, with 8,114 residents. The 19th-century Casa del Huerto, listed cultural heritage, houses the doll museum with its gardens.

The Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas, a 16th-17th century Gothic-Renaissance fortress with four towers, is the town hall today. Next to it, the 1778 Santiago church keeps a late-Gothic altarpiece and Sempere frescoes. The festival, of regional interest since 2023, rounds off the year.

The Moors and Christians festival, declared of regional interest in 2023, is the big date of the year. Onil keeps its mountain-industry air, with the Casa del Huerto and its gardens as a haven, and works as a base for touring the Hoya de Castalla between Ibi and Castalla. Palace, church and Casa are visited one after the other in an old town walked in a morning. The town sits about 97 km from Valencia in the Alicante interior.
