Villafamés, about 77 km from Valencia in the Plana Alta, is a village of 1,962 residents built in reddish stone over the Pla de l'Arc. A Pueblo Bonito since 2015, it is walked from the hilltop castle to the contemporary-art old quarter.

Vilafamés Castle crowns the village with walls and towers over the plain. Below, the Gothic church of la Sangre faces the castle from the upper quarter, and the church of the Asunción, of Gothic base, serves the old quarter. The MACVAC, a contemporary art museum in historic houses, is the cultural reason for the visit. The village, of 1,962 residents, is walked on foot from the castle to the old quarter, among reddish stone and plain viewpoints. The two parish churches, Sangre and Asunción, mark the upper quarter and the old centre, and the MACVAC spreads its rooms through historic houses. A Pueblo Bonito since 2015, it is a half-day destination, at ease and unhurried. The sloping lanes ask for comfortable shoes. The MACVAC and the castle centre the morning, at ease.
