Mirador del Cap de la Nau
Cap de la Nau is the easternmost point of the Valencian Community and the closest to Ibiza, crowned by an octagonal lighthouse that entered service in 1928, standing about 120 metres above the sea. Its viewpoints offer sweeping panoramas of the Mediterranean and the cliffs, while the Cova dels Orguens sea cave — noted by the naturalist Cavanilles — opens at its foot.
The Mirador del Cap de la Nau looks out from about 120 metres above the sea at Xàbia, on the easternmost point of the Valencian Community. Within the Valencian Community, this is the point closest to Ibiza, whose silhouette is visible on clear days. Entry is free, and the edge is all open Mediterranean.
The cape and the Ibiza horizon
The panorama runs wide: cliffs falling straight to water, open sea to the east, and, when the air cooperates, Ibiza floating far off. Treat visibility as the plan and pick a clean, bright morning or a settled evening. Haze flattens the whole show, so a transparent day is worth waiting for.
The octagonal lighthouse from 1928
Beside the railings stands the lighthouse, an octagonal tower in service since 1928. Its profile is the classic postcard of the cape and a useful landmark when you drive in. Use the lighthouse as a landmark, then take time at the viewpoint to look across the Mediterranean and the cliffs.
The Cova dels Orguens below
At the foot of the cape opens the Cova dels Orguens, a sea cave noted by the naturalist Cavanilles. Its walls reminded viewers of organ pipes, which fixed the name. The cave adds another part to the cape's natural history; its position at the foot of the rock is separate from the viewpoint visit.
Timing and parking
First light and dusk give the kindest colour on the cliffs. In summer the car park by the lighthouse fills early, so arrive ahead of the rush. Consider the forecast when planning the drive, and bring a layer if the weather calls for it. Pair the cape with the Cap de Sant Antoni viewpoint. Lighthouse readers can also consult the Cullera lighthouse and viewpoint guide for another outing.
