Chorrero de la Castellana
A seasonal waterfall in the Chera-Sot de Chera natural park, with a circular ravine route and spring. It flows after rain.
The Chorrero de la Castellana is a seasonal waterfall in the municipality of Chera, inside the Chera-Sot de Chera Natural Park. The park lists it among its natural heritage sites. It flows after the autumn and spring rains, and is visited on foot via the Umbría de la Viña ravine, passing the Encaños spring.
A protected and fragile landscape
The waterfall belongs to a landscape of ravines and riverbeds that the 29 October 2024 flash floods churned up: the torrents exposed new fossil sites in the bed of the Reatillo or Sot, the ramblas and the ravines. These remains belong to the Valencian Cultural Heritage and must be respected without collecting or chipping anything. Check the park notices before setting off in case stretches are affected.
The visit
- The route is circular and starts in the village of Chera; parking is unconfirmed, so arrive with time to spare.
- Wear shoes with grip: the stone near the water is damp and slippery.
- You get there by car; no public transport to the start is confirmed.
- The area also offers the Buseo reservoir, another water spot in the municipality.
