Embalse del Amadorio
A 1957 reservoir between Villajoyosa and Orxeta, 4 km from the sea, with a walkable shoreline and coastal views.
The Amadorio reservoir holds back the Amadorio river between Villajoyosa and Orxeta, in the Marina Baixa district, just 4 km from the sea. It is a 1957 dam tied to the history of the Benidorm water supply, with a mostly walkable shoreline and views toward the coast. The dam stands between Villajoyosa and Orxeta, much of the shoreline can be covered on foot, and to the east you sense the coast, just 4 km away.
The walk
The plan is to walk the shoreline and watch the water among pines, an easy stroll of about two hours with no serious climbing. There is no record of authorised bathing areas, so it is a walking spot, not a swimming one. Carry water, as there are no facilities by the water.
Fishing and tips
Fishing is reserved for members of the managing club, except for a small day-ticket zone; carp is the most common species. Respect that rule and do not fish outside the marked zone. The trip pairs well with Benidorm and the Serra Gelada natural park, a few minutes away by car.
