Almacén de Ribera
1903 orange warehouse by José Ríos Chinesta, basilica-type, by the station. It tells the orange-trade story.
By the station of Carcagente, the Almacén de Ribera is a cathedral of the orange trade. José Ríos Chinesta built it in 1903 with a basilica plan, designed to sort and crate oranges before the train.
History
Carcagente grew rich on oranges and needed warehouses by the tracks. The 1903 Ribera warehouse is the best preserved: a basilica-type industrial hall that explains the golden age of the Ribera citrus trade.
What to see
The 1903 basilica hall, the exposed structure and the sorting and loading spaces. The building tells how oranges left for the port and Europe. Complete the modernista route with the 1934 market and the Montortal palace.
