Platja del Pebret
One of the few fine-sand beaches in the Serra d'Irta Natural Park, on the unspoilt coast south of Peníscola. It preserves the Duna del Pebret, declared a flora microreserve for its native vegetation, and a wooden boardwalk with botanical panels and a viewpoint that protects the dune belt.
The Platja del Pebret keeps one of the few fine sand stretches in the Serra d'Irta Natural Park, on the unbuilt coast south of Peníscola. The beach has an unbuilt setting on the coast of the natural park. About 1 h 30 from Valencia, it rewards travellers who rank quiet over comfort.
Platja del Pebret and its protected dune
The Pebret dune sets the beach apart, declared a flora microreserve for the native plants rooting in the sand. The dune keeps the coastal face as it stood before mass tourism, so hold to the marked accesses and leave the vegetation untouched. Its value is exactly that unchanged line.
The boardwalk with botanical panels
A wooden boardwalk crosses the zone with panels explaining the dune plants, ending at a viewpoint over the sea. The boardwalk offers a short walk with botanical panels, allowing you to learn about the dune plants while keeping off the vegetation. Read every panel and the microreserve logic falls into place.
What the quiet costs
Precisely because no road reaches the sand and no services stand on it, the beach holds its calm even in summer. There are no beach bars and no loungers, only fine sand, the dune and the sea. Come for landscape, not for facilities, and the morning light pays the early start. Check the sea conditions before entering the water and choose any swim according to your own experience.
Arriving light
Reach it on foot or by bike along the Serra d'Irta tracks, and pack for a full self sufficient day: water and food, a parasol since no shade stands, and a bag for your litter. Entry is free. To read the setting, consult the Serra d'Irta guide; for a cove alternative, use the Cala de la Granadella page at Xàbia.
