Gilet, about 24 km from València, is a village of about 4,000 residents at the edge of the Calderona, in the Palancia basin. The centre links church, convent and tower in a short walk.

The Franciscan Sancti Spiritu monastery, founded by María de Luna, keeps a college, a museum and Segrelles works. San Antonio church was begun in 1533 with a Renaissance interior. The 1580 Gilet tower, 25 metres tall, guarded the entrance to the Morvedre valley. On the hill of the same name, the San Miguel hermitage gives the best views of the district.
