World Paella Day celebrates paella every 20 September. In València it includes the World Paella Day Cup, an international cooking competition. Fundación Visit València and Ajuntament de València organise the celebration, with support from Turisme CV and Diputació.
What is the Cup?
The Cup brings together chefs from different countries to compete by cooking paellas. The project has international qualifying rounds before the final in València. The official World Paella Day website publishes competition rules and participation information.
Last edition and next celebration
In 2026 the final took place on 20 September at Plaça de l’Aigua in La Marina, beside Tinglado 2. This venue belongs to that edition; check the annual programme for the next one. The worldwide celebration keeps its date, while the next edition’s venue, times and activities await announcement.
Spectators and tastings
The 2026 competition was open to the public. Do not confuse admission with a free tasting: the municipal announcement offered portions for purchase. Check the official programme for each activity’s conditions.
How it relates to Sueca’s competition
The Concurs Internacional de Paella Valenciana de Sueca is a separate contest: in 2026 it took place on 13 September in Sueca. Both focus on paella, but they have different dates and are not the same competition. Explore Sueca or read our València paella guide.
