Barranco de la Maimona
A limestone gorge by Montanejos with climbing walls, pine woods and the waymarked Senda de la Bojera loop.
The Maimona ravine, also listed as the Maimona river and rambla, is a limestone gorge next to Montanejos, in the Alto Mijares. Its walls hold climbing routes, the bottom keeps pine woods, and the whole is walked on the Senda de la Bojera, the approved local trail SL-CV 105. It is a mountain area with established hiking and climbing use, about 85 minutes by car from València, with a typical visit of 4 and a half hours.
The Senda de la Bojera
The SL-CV 105 loop measures 8.5 km, with about 395 m of ascent and 425 m of descent in total, moderate grade. The line mixes track, footpath and ravine stretches. It starts from the village, although the exact starting car park is unverified: ask in the village for the current starting point.
Visit notices
The accumulated climbing is serious for untrained legs: bring plenty of water, mountain shoes and some food, and do not set out in extreme heat or with storms forecast, because the ravine gathers water. Climbing is only for equipped people with experience. Bathing in the ravine is unverified, so do not count on it.
