Castillo de Montornés
Castle ruins on the inland hills of Benicasim, with views over the coast. A walking destination from the town.
Montornés Castle crowns the inland hills of Benicasim, above the coastal strip. Stretches of medieval wall and tower remains survive, on a point with views over the sea and the Plana.
History
It was the first fortified settlement of the municipality before people moved down to the coast. Its position guarded the plain between the Desert de les Palmes and the sea, on the historic route north.
