Concatedral de Santa María
20th-century Neo-Gothic co-cathedral over the old medieval parish church. It shares its square with El Fadrí.
The co-cathedral of Santa María faces the Plaza Mayor of Castellón de la Plana, opposite El Fadrí. It is a 20th-century Neo-Gothic church, raised over the medieval parish destroyed in the Civil War.
The church
The rebuilding followed Gothic lines with three naves, stained glass and a plain high altar. Since 1960 it has shared the diocesan seat with Segorbe, hence the co-cathedral title. The stained glass colours the nave on clear mornings, and the high altar centres the city festivities.
