Next to the Milà y Aragó palace in Albaida, the Asunción parish church was built between 1592 and 1621 in Valencian Gothic style. Its square bell tower marks the old-town skyline.

History

The church went up at the turn of the 17th century to serve the walled town. Later centuries added Baroque fittings, including oils by the local painter Josep Segrelles on the high altar.

What to see

Look for the Segrelles oils, the Gothic silver Vera Cruz kept in the treasury and the bell tower outside. The manual bell-ringing group of Albaida, a listed intangible asset, still rings here on feast days.
