Penya Foradà
A natural stone arch above the Gallinera valley, on an official medium-difficulty 7.5 km route via an abandoned village.
The Penya Foradà is a natural stone arch above the Vall de Gallinera, in the Marina Alta. It is reached on the official L’Atzubieta - Penya Foradà - Corral del Moro route, of medium difficulty and 7.5 km linear layout. The path leaves Alcalà de la Jovada towards the Vall d’Ebo, passes the abandoned village of L’Atzubieta and climbs to the arch, with open views over the Vall de Gallinera.
The route
The itinerary mixes track and footpath, with a final climb to La Foradà. Halfway, the deserted L’Atzubieta adds rural history, and the arch is the stop and photo point before continuing to Corral del Moro or heading back. It is a half-day route for walkers with stamina.
Tips for your visit
- It is medium difficulty with a climb: bring water, grippy footwear and a layer to suit the season.
- The ground is stony on the climb; do not rush and set off with daylight to spare.
- You get there by car; no public transport to the start is confirmed.
- Combine it with the villages of La Vall de Laguar, the neighbouring valley.
