The Pico del Caroche, also mapped as El Caroig, is the highest summit of the Caroche massif at 1126 m. The official GR-332 stage starts at Bicorp village, in La Canal de Navarrés, and climbs through the forest of the Barranco Salado to views over Teresa de Cofrentes and Bicorp.
The route
The federation lists 19.2 km one way with 1115 m of ascent and an estimated walking time of 6 hours 25 minutes, which makes this a hard full-day stage. The quality control of the trail is positive and the route is waymarked, but the length and the height gain demand fitness and an early start.
Safety
Go in autumn or spring and avoid the summer heat and winter cold snaps on this exposed ridge. Carry plenty of water, food and a charged phone, and turn back if storms threaten. You need a car to reach Bicorp. Waterfall lovers can recover with the gentler Tres Salts de Anna route on another day.
