What to see in Cortes de Pallás
Cortes de Pallás, about 55 km from València, is a large, thinly populated municipality cut by the Júcar canyon, in the Valle de Cofrentes-Ayora. With some 700 residents (2025), its visit moves between town and river.
In the town, the 1775 church of Los Ángeles and the 18th-century Baron palace form the centre. Outside, the 15th-century Chirel castle guards the bends from its spur, reached on the GR-7.
The plan joins town in the morning and canyon after, with the reservoir cruise as a separate half day. Otonel, Ral and Hermosa nearby are a nature chapter.
The visit needs a long day: 1775 church and 18th-century palace in the town in the morning, and Chirel castle on the GR-7 in mountain footwear. The reservoir cruise, with bends and cliffs, works as a separate half day. Otonel, Ral and Hermosa complete the surrounding nature. The canyon demands respect and good footwear.
