What to see in Culla
Culla, about 98 km from Valencia in the Alto Maestrazgo, is a village of about 500 residents below its castle. It joined the Spanish Pueblos Bonitos association in 2019 and is explored on foot, among stone lanes and viewpoints over the ravines.
The medieval core keeps the slope street plan, with arched doorways and iron balconies. Above, the castle and walls, a Templar and later Montesa fortress, look over the Maestrazgo ridges. The San Roque and San Cristóbal hermitages ring the village and the Salvador church serves the upper quarter, by the walls.
