What to see in Manises
Manises, about 8 km from València, is the historic ceramics capital, with about 32,000 residents. Its lustreware kilns fired ware from the 14th century for Mediterranean markets, and the town is a creative capital of crafts.
The ceramics museum, in the Casanova house since 1969, covers the ware to today with the kilns of the Obradors quarter. The Arab Arquets aqueduct, a listed asset, crosses the Salt de l'Aigua ravine toward Quart. San Juan church, from 1734-1751, was burned in the Civil War and restored afterwards.
The Casanova-house museum and the Obradors kilns fill one morning; the Arquets aqueduct is added on foot in daylight. The town, a creative capital of crafts, keeps working workshops in the pottery quarter.
