Muela de Cortes
800 metre limestone plateau with cliffs and vultures, a hunting reserve crossed by long-distance trails.
The Muela de Cortes is a large natural platform between 800 and 900 metres in the north of the Caroche massif, in the southern half of Cortes de Pallás. Its highest point, with rim cliffs such as the Cinto Cabra dropping over the Júcar gorge, a country of vultures and wide horizons.
Hunting reserve caution
The plateau holds the Reserva Valenciana de Caza de La Muela de Cortes: check the season dates locally before going and follow any closed-area signs on the day. Wear visible clothing in season, keep to the tracks and do not leave them toward the cliff rims. The mapped point marks the massif, not a single summit, so treat it as an area walk.
Access
You drive from Requena to Cortes de Pallás and continue on the plateau tracks; there is no verified designated parking. The GR-7 long-distance stages cross the area. Allow about 3 hours, carry water and food, and avoid the midday heat: the plateau has long shadeless stretches.
