In the lower town of Ayora, the church of the Asunción is the second Gothic parish of the town. It dates from the 16th century and serves the quarter that grew away from the castle, at the foot of the hill.
History
Ayora had two Gothic parishes: Santa María, by the castle, and Asunción in the lower town. Asunción went up in the 16th century to serve the quarter spreading over the plain, and keeps the sober lines of late inland Gothic.
