Casa-Museo Modernista
Modernist mansion from 1900-1904, by Pedro Cerdán, with period interiors open as a museum.
In the centre of Novelda stands the Casa-Museo Modernista, a mansion raised between 1900 and 1904 by the architect Pedro Cerdán. Its period interiors are visited as a museum of modernism in the Vinalopó.
History
The house was commissioned by the table-grape bourgeoisie at the turn of the century. Cerdán, an architect of Murcian and Alicante modernism, signed a building with a decorated facade and complete interiors of the period.
What to see
The drawing rooms with original furniture, stained glass and plasterwork from 1900-1904. The staircase and the courtyard organise a house designed to display its owners' standing.
