The Gorg del Salt is the waterfall pool of the Encantada ravine closest to Planes, in El Comtat: a limestone hollow where the water has opened a pool at the foot of the fall, with more linked pools downstream. You climb down to it by steps from the trail, so wear shoes with grip.
When it carries water
The ravine is intermittent and its flow changes with the season: levels run highest in autumn, with the rains, and in summer the pools serve for bathing. After the autumn rains the waterfall shows more force; in high summer the water can shrink back to the pools.
The visit
It is a point known to local walkers, with no ticket office or quota: you drive to Planes and follow the ravine trail. Carry water, avoid the midday hours in summer and keep back from the edge of the fall when the rock is wet. Spring and autumn are good times to walk; summer is the time to bathe in the pools.
